Equipment Information
 
Every BGSA member will need the following equipment:
 
Mouth Guard
Glove
Batting Helmet with Facemask and Chin Strap
Bat (Bat needs to be an ASA certified Fastball bat)
Batting Bag
Cleats (recommended)
*Infield Mask
 

*For our 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U divisions, an infield mask is required for the 3rd base and pitcher positions and recommended for all other infield positions.

General Equipment Information:
Batting Helmets:  Fit is a huge factor when purchasing a batting helmet.  Make sure the helmet does not Wobble. Be sure to purchase a NOCSAE - approved helmet, ASA rules now require and NOCSAE approved helmet and faceguard. BGSA does not recommend purchasing a "one size fits all helmet".  We have provided a helmet conversion size chart below.  To help you find the correct helmet size, measure the circumference of the head above the ears and refer to the conversion chart below. These are an approximation as some brands may differ slightly because of padding and shell design.  If you purchase a helmet without a face guard attached ask that they attach it at the store for you.  BGSA recommends purchasing your daughter's helmet from Budget Sporting Goods at 6611 Westcott (Westcott near Memorial).

Glove: 

A glove has individual fingers and can be worn by all defensive players. Gloves come in adult and youth sizes, and in outfield and infield lengths. The outfielder’s glove is longer than an infielder’s glove, but either type may be worn by infielders and outfielders. Do not think that the more expensive the glove, the better it is. When choosing a glove, the player should be able to control it (not too big), and it should be comfortable.

Bat:   A player should be able to swing their bat with a smooth level motion and in control when swinging at full speed. Provided is a national average for bats used at various ages.
